Chapter 2: The Bloodied Heavy Blow
Haha, hybrid, did you see that? This is the allure of power
The current attitude further solidified Downton's judgment; regardless of Melissa's identity, as long as he was wary of her, that was sufficient
"Downton, what is your status that you dare to defy the adult? Kneel down and apologize!" Matt shouted cunningly to his colleagues, "Take action, do not let him run wild in the post office."
"You insolently contradicted your superior, I will have to dismiss you!" Ballmer glared at Downton, roaring as if this was the only way to regain a semblance of authority
This slap carries significant force; if it were to land, Downton's jaw would be loosened.
Although the postmen kept their heads down, they all glanced at the unfolding situation from the corners of their eyes. Seeing Downton actually dodging, their eyes nearly popped out in astonishment. Surely, he must not want this job anymore
I waited! Downton licked the blood off his fist, spat it out, and left the post office without looking back
Downton stepped back with his left foot, leaning his upper body backward, calmly watching as the clerk's greasy palm swept past his nose, the airflow created brushing against the black hair on his forehead
On a rainy afternoon, Ballmer called Melissa into the office, ready to make his move, but before he could even touch those two full buttocks, he was slapped in the face by a letter.
The postmen were unaware of why the secretary had changed his mind, but it was evident that Downton had remained, causing everyone's expressions to change drastically. After all, this was tantamount to a complete falling out with him. Thinking of the nickname 'the Fox of the West', everyone shuddered, feeling that the days ahead would be difficult.
"It's a great opportunity to take sides, to climb up the thigh of the secretary. I might even get promoted!" Matt's eyes flickered as he calculated the risks and rewards, but just as he took a step forward, he caught sight of Downton's gaze sweeping over, and his body instantly stiffened like a statue. After all, the postman had the longest tenure in the post office and had once mentored him.
Downton's right arm retracted, delivering punches in a continuous barrage to the clerk's face. Crack! The impact caused his nose to collapse, blood gushing out like a fountain, soaking through the front of his shirt.
The clerk was suddenly startled, never having imagined that a mere postal worker, seemingly insignificant, would have the audacity to shout at him
Ten thousand bounty? Passing by the Golden Ivory Tavern, Downton saw the wanted poster affixed to the bulletin board, the bright red gold coin emblem severely stimulating his eyes
Wait! The secretary was taken aback and called to his subordinates, incredulously asking, "What did you say?"
Get lost! Ballmer finally found a venting outlet, grabbing Will by the hair and striking him across the face.
It was too late. Downton leaned forward, forcefully pushing off the ground with his right foot, lunging towards Ballmer like a cannonball. Following that, he exerted strength through his knees, his back arching like a great bow being drawn, allowing his right fist to strike heavily against the secretary's chin like a powerful arrow.
Stop him
The postmen exchanged glances, hesitating to move forward. The Downton residents had a good reputation, which made it difficult for them to take action, yet they had no choice but to obey their superior's orders
Stop, I am Melissa's person; if you want to die, try touching me!
He is merely the newly appointed secretary of a small border town, with no established connections; how much influence could he possibly have? It is nothing more than hiring those bloodthirsty, down-and-out mercenaries with gold coins to cause me trouble! Tang Dun walked slowly while holding his cloak, contemplating the possible actions that Bauman might take.
The postmen looked at the chaotic hall in silence, all startled by Downton's outburst. They suddenly realized that turning against this kid seemed to be the worst decision they could make.
Seeing that the situation was lost, two more postmen rushed out
Without entering the Soul Stage and awakening his talents, Downton would not stand a chance against ten postmen. The secretary seemed to envision the pitiful sight of him being beaten to a pulp, and thus laughed triumphantly.
Still short on money, otherwise I could completely enter the Soul Stage within a month. Tang Dun touched his money pouch, truly reluctant to use the tuition he had saved, but the magical energy required for the advancement was too immense; relying solely on natural absorption would take at least half a year.
"A lowly person is just a lowly person, completely lacking in manners. I heard your sister is a student at St. George's School of Magic? Hmph, how could a commoner possibly gain admission to such a prestigious institution?" Looking at the calm Downton, Bauman was infuriated, his anger boiling over, and he couldn't help but lash out with his sharp tongue, "She must have become a prostitute, entertaining at least a hundred or eighty men every day; there's no way she could earn enough for tuition!"
I serve Melissa
The clerk certainly would not consider Downton to be Melissa's man; at most, it is merely a master-servant relationship, yet it remains quite troublesome
Calm down quickly and think of a solution! Facing Ballmer's furious gaze, Downton's mind raced; he knew that if he could not find an excuse, he would undoubtedly face a storm of attacks from the other party
Ballmer is a lecherous man who often harasses the female staff at the post office, yet Downton has never seen him flirt with Melissa
Downton, like a spirit cat, shifted to one side to evade a heavy kick
I await with great anticipation! After Downton organized the letters and glanced at the hall where he had spent three years, he spoke defiantly, yet deep down he let out a sigh.
The character of the clerk is very tyrannical, often finding excuses to hit people, but the postmen can only endure it and dare not hide, otherwise he will frequently create trouble for you, inflicting abuse until you can no longer bear it and resign on your own, at which point you won't even receive your salary for that month
Enough, let him go!" Downton took a deep breath, calmed his emotions, and then exhaled loudly, shouting it out.
Standing on the long street of Morning Mist Town, Tang Dun looked up, allowing the rain to wash over his cheeks, gradually calming down.
The crisp sound of slaps filled the post office hall, as the postal workers looked at Will's swollen face, remaining as silent as cicadas in winter, fearing to be caught in the fallout.
What a pity, such a talented individual. If he weren't a confidant of my predecessor, I would certainly appreciate you! Ballmer also acknowledges Downton's abilities, but this guy is just too unappreciative. Having been in office for only two months, he doesn't even talk about showing respect and flattery. If he doesn't deal with you, who will?
Someone took the lead, and ten postmen with a generally indifferent relationship to Downton immediately stood up and rushed towards him. Not to mention that this was an opportunity to pledge loyalty to the secretary; if they did not act, they would surely face repercussions in the future.
Seeing Downton speak up for him, Will was deeply moved. Despite the pain, he ran to Balmor and offered to support him
"Mixed breed, let you be proud for a few more days." Ballmer grabbed the mail on the table and threw it at Downton, making a threatening remark, "Do you think that with Melissa backing you up, I won't be able to deal with you?"
Calm down! Downton wanted to resign, but thinking of his sister's tuition, he held back. Moreover, wouldn't leaving like this only make him more pleased?
You may go and verify! Downton presented a calm and composed demeanor, yet deep down he was anxious; as soon as Melissa arrived at the post office tomorrow, he would be exposed.
Several friendly postmen rushed up and firmly blocked Downton
With a snap, a brass button on the shirt popped off, revealing a ring of flesh.
You and the picture book are doomed!" Downton's expression suddenly turned ferocious, like a hurricane rising from the ground, charging towards Balmer
With a thud, like a mountain of flesh, Ballmer fell to the floor
The border of Redwood County is adjacent to the Dragon Hills, known for producing notorious bandits, and the Sunset Badlands, compounded by an inactive border commander, resulting in a complete chaos in public order
Despite being caught in a crisis, Downton's pride prevented him from escaping the post office, and in a moment of inspiration, he shouted out.
"You are doomed, I swear, I will sell your sister to the lowest brothel, letting those filthy sweat-covered laborers violate her every day!" Ballmer's limbs convulsed in pain, his face twisted with hatred as he glared at Downton, wanting to tear this kid to pieces
With a bang, Bauman's head was thrown back as he spat out a mouthful of blood, several blood-stained teeth falling onto the floor
This woman exudes a languid charm that surpasses even the most beautiful socialites wandering through the upper echelons of the capital, making her irresistibly alluring.
"Stop, you will kill him, and then you will also have to go to jail!" Will held his waist, feeling extremely fortunate that he had not entered the Soul Stage, otherwise, a single punch from Balmer would have been fatal.
In just a few seconds, Ballmer could no longer keep up, resting his hands on his thighs, panting heavily, resembling a comical fat pig, yet no one dared to laugh
Two months ago, upon arriving at the post office in Misty Town, the moment Balmer saw Melissa, he couldn't help but desire to take her to bed
Adult, it is all my fault, please do not be angry, Downton did not mean to offend you
Ballmer had heard rumors that she was the mistress of a baron, but he did not care; a woman without support would inevitably resort to some means to ensure her own safety
Ballmer was relentless, waving his hands vigorously, grabbing at his hair. The intense movement caused his large belly to shake up and down.
"Are you trying to deceive me?" Ballmer's expression fluctuated between dark and light as he stared at Downton. After all, he was an official and would not be swayed by a mere word from a commoner
In impoverished mountains and treacherous waters, cunning individuals abound. For a single silver coin, there are numerous ogres and cannibals who dare to commit murder in the streets. The constraints of imperial law? Can that fill one's stomach? Before facing starvation or being hanged for a crime, even the intellectually challenged offspring of cannibals know how to make a choice
"What are you still dawdling for? Break this bastard's legs!" Ballmer turned his head and shouted angrily at the messengers in the hall. He was not foolish to the point of no return and still knew how to leverage his position to intimidate others
Looking at the sharp gaze of the Downton Falcon, Ballmer's hair stood on end, and he instinctively took a step back, his voice even changing pitch as he shouted
Upon seeing the content, Baoman was drenched in sweat, changed the subject, and no longer dared to pay her any attention
The clerk sneered, relishing the thrill of commanding others; however, upon seeing the calm expression on the other person's delicate face, his pleasure diminished sharply, and he couldn't help but curse, "Smash that face to pieces for me!"
The excuse will be exposed tomorrow, and he will never be able to return.
The postmen instinctively looked towards Downton, as they all knew that Elaine was his treasure; Ballmer's words undoubtedly stirred up a hornet's nest
Downton knew that he was being targeted, and even if he escaped this time, trouble would still await him ahead. After all, Ballmer was his direct superior, determined to make his life difficult, and there were countless ways to do so.
In front of his subordinates, the slap missed its target, causing Ballmer to feel a significant loss of prestige. His chubby face immediately turned a deep shade of blue as he stepped forward and raised his leg to kick Downton in the stomach
There is no choice left, I have reported and driven Duren away, there is no way back now! Matt's forehead was beaded with cold sweat, but upon seeing the figure of the secretary, he immediately made up his mind
